Which web browser should I use?
For access to full functionality on Microsoft 365, Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome are the recommended browsers.
I am getting an error message trying to sign in to Office.com on my PC, what might the issue be?
If you have already signed in using another MS account, you need to sign out and clear the browser cache. Then try to sign in with your CadetNet credentials.

Make sure you are using a compatible browser (Edge or Chrome).
Since I have my own Microsoft account at home, can I use it to access CadetNet?
No, you will not be able to use your personal Microsoft account or applications to access CadetNet. You require a CadetNet account.
The sign in procedure is asking me for personal information such as my mobile number, do I have any other options?
The personal information requested is limited to only what is required to enable multifactor authentication and for you to reset your password yourself. If you do not wish for your mobile phone number to be used, there is an Authenticator Application which you can install. Under no circumstances will a Service Desk technician contact you requesting your personal information. Please be mindful of social engineering attempts (using psychological manipulation of people into performing actions or divulging confidential information), phishing and other scams!
Can I sign in to CadetNet Teams if I am already signed in with another Microsoft 365 account?
In Teams, you can now log into multiple work, school, and personal accounts.
- Select your profile picture in the top right of the Teams desktop client.
- Select Add another account.
a. Choose an account you've previously signed in with.
b. Select Create or use another account.
To switch to a different account, select your profile picture and choose a different account at any time.
How do I access my CadetNet email on my smartphone?
You will need to download the "Outlook App" to access your mail.
Step 1: On your Smartphone, go to your app store and download the Outlook App. If you already have the Outlook App, jump to Step 2.
Click on the icons below or search for "Microsoft Outlook" on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to download the app.
If you already have the Outlook app start here.
Step 2: Open the Outlook App.
Step 3: Select the inbox icon in the top left.
Step 4: Select the icon of an envelope with a plus sign.
Step 5: Select ''Add an account'' and sign in with your CadetNet credentials.
How to Add a New Authentication Method
- Navigate to My Account (microsoft.com)
- Under the Security Info heading, select "Update Info".
- Follow the authentication instructions on the page.
- Once you reach the Security Info page, click on "Add sign-in method".
- In the drop-down menu that appears, users can select which authentication method they would like to add.
- Once the new method is selected, follow the onscreen steps to finish setting up.
- You should now see the newest authentication method listed on the Security Info screen.
How to Change the Default Authentication Method
- Navigate to My Account (microsoft.com)
- Under the Security Info heading, select "Update Info
- You will be asked to authenticate using the method set-up during onboarding.
- Once you reach the Security Info page, click "Change" beside Default sign-in method.
- In the drop-down menu that appears, select the method you would like to make your default authentication method.
- Click "Confirm".
- Next to the Default sign-in method you should now see the newly selected authentication method.
How to Remove an Authentication Method
- Navigate to My Account (microsoft.com)
- Under the Security Info heading, select "Update Info".
- You will be asked to authenticate using the method set-up during onboarding.
- Once you reach the Security Info page, find the authentication method you would like to remove in the list.
- Click "Delete" and then "OK" to confirm.
- The authentication method should be removed from the list of sign-in methods.
Adding a Phone Number Authentication Method
- On your computer select "Add a Method". Select "Phone" from the dropdown menu. If using a phone with an extension select "Office Phone".
- Enter your phone number and extension if applicable. Microsoft will call your phone. Listen for the prompt and press the "#" key.
- Now whenever you are prompted to sign in and you don’t have access to your cell phone or your default method of authentication you can select "Sign in another way" and the telephone option will be available.
Adding the Authenticator App Authentication Method (Mobile phone required)
- On your computer select "Add a Method".
Select "Authenticator App" from the dropdown menu. - Continue to click "Next" until a QR code appears.
- On your mobile device, open Play Store (Android)/App Store (iOS) and download Microsoft Authenticator.
- Open Microsoft Authenticator.
- On the initial screen, tap "I agree".
- Then tap "Scan a QR Code".
- A camera overlay will appear on your mobile device. Using the camera overlay, scan the QR code on the computer.
- You will be prompted to allow notifications. Click "Allow".
- You have successfully set up the Authenticator app.
